Mommy Wars

I recently read a post from a blog about Mommy Wars--you know the whole stay-at-home/work-out-of-the-house debate. It's a situation where each side points their fingers at the other with such lame-ass accusations as:

Working Moms: You are setting the Women's Rights Movement back decades.

Stay-at-Home-Moms: You are letting someone else raise our children.

Then they get into defense mode:

Working Moms: I am not working so we can have a bigger house and nicer car. I am working because I am educated and want to use my education.

Stay-at-Home-Moms: I have a Masters Degree in Biochemical Engineering. I am very well educated, but I choose to stay home to raise my children.

Here are my thoughts on the subject. Anyone who has the free time to get involved with this nonsense, whichever side she is on, obviously still has too much free time on her hands.

I don't care what someone else does. I don't even know what the status is of most of the moms I have contact with (outside of the daycare center, of course--I know all those moms work), and I don't care.

You see, I am way too busy being a single, widowed, working mom carrying the sole responsibility for EVERYTHING in our lives that I can't be bothered with nonsense like this.

Seriously, wouldn't it be nice to be able to CHOOSE? I'd like to be online bitching about this tonight, but instead I need to learn to operate a weed whacker.

And hopefully, I won't lose any body parts doing it.
