Health

I have decided I need to get healthy. Well, I am healthy. I guess I've decided I need to stay healthy. Since I had my children, I haven't really exercised. Last May, my plan was to start again, but then all hell broke loose.

I always ate healthy, at least up until John got sick. That has also gone by the wayside.

All that is now going to change.

Three days a week, I walk with two other teachers during our lunch period.

On Thursdays, I am taking a yoga class before I pick the kids up from daycare. They will survive one night a week staying a bit later.

I am eating real meals again, not eating to survive.

I am facing surgery in two months (more on that another time). Dr. Oz (yes from Oprah) says in his book, You the Smart Patient, that going into surgery in optimum health is the best way to come out of surgery in optimum health. He also recommends walking everyday a week before surgery, which is what I plan to do.

I am tired all the time and I need to pull myself together and feel good again, well at least physically good again. The emotional part will be a while.

Yoga ... I'm intrigued ... I could probably use this to increase my mental health (which isn't bad now) ... I was going to look into the Wii Fit game that's coming out this week ...

Yeah, I'm getting bored with the eliptical...I may start boxing on the Wii. It obviously works because i couldn't walk for 2 days after Christmas.

Great for you! And while there is a lot behind your emotional state, I've found that increasing my exercise can sometimes help to improve my emotional state. Even if it's just a little bit!

Dr. Oz is so right! I've had doctors tell me that before. Especially before orthopedic surgery. My doctors have put me into PT before surgery because if you can make your body as healthy and strong as possible before the big day it recovers faster and better!!
