Charity
Last night my 17-year-old babysitter declined her weekly salary from me. She asked that instead I donate her paycheck to the Lustgarten Foundation in John's name.
I think I need to call her mother and get parenting advice from her because any woman who can raise a 17-year-old to be so incredibly responsible, unselfish and giving is Mother of the Year in my book.
I envy my babysitter. I was completely selfish and had no social conscience at 17. The next time I hear someone gripe and criticize the "younger generation" I will be the first person to stand up for them.
